Shimmy the cat is pretty n clever
wanders around, enjoys the weather
catches a mouse, never gets bitten
life’s pretty nice as a furry little kitten
He’s got nothing to do and nowhere to be
explores the garden and stares at the bee
he jumps the fence and climbs the tree
there is in this world no one more free
But sometimes he wonders
shouldn’t I find me a mate?
someone to play with
some other cat
just a little warmth and caring
don’t need a lot
I am a solist creature
or at least that’s what I thought
He sees a man, nice looking lad
comes close, scratches with his head
the man pets and offers a smile
but that can last just for only a while
And when the belly goes mewo
he needs to eat, donnow how
go to the garbage? go to the litter?
find a nice pigeon? be a big eater?
But sometimes he wonders
should I find me a lad?
someone to feed me
to lie with in bed
just some touch and attention
don’t need a lot
I am a solist creature
or at least that’s what I thought
Shimmy the cat is happy and pleased
he gets warm in the sun and enjoying the breeze
but something still remains incomplete
as he goes by himself in the long lonely street
